Thomas Pieters was born on the 27th of January 1992 in Geel, Belgium.

Standing at 1.96 m (6 ft 5 in), Pieters is one of Europe's biggest hitters.

He began playing golf at age 5 when his family took up the sport while on a South African vacation.

Thomas studied at the University of Illinois, where he was teammates with PGA TOUR player Luke Guthrie.

As an amateur he won the 2009 International of Belgium Junior Championship, 2011 Jack Nicklaus Invitational, 2011 Belgian Stroke Play Championship, 2012 NCAA Division I Championship, 2012 Monroe Invitational and 2013 Big Ten Championship.

He turned pro in 2013.

Thomas Pieters competed in the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games and in the 2016 Ryder Cup.

Thomas Pieters won his first European Tour title, the D+D Real Czech Masters, in 2015. His total score was 268 (-20). Runner up was Pelle Edberg 3 strokes behind.

He tied 4th at the 2017 Masters Tournament. He tied for 6th at the 2018 PGA Championship.

In 2023 Pieters joined LIV Golf as a member of Bubba Watson's Range Goats team.
