Joohyung Kim was born on the 21st June 2002 in Seoul, South Korea.

His father, Chang-Ik Lee, is also a professional golfer. He played on what is now the Korn Ferry Tour before Tom was born and then became a teaching professional.

He goes by "Tom," a nickname he had as a child after Thomas the Tank Engine in the TV series "Thomas & Friends."

He hs lived in various countries growing up including China, Thailand, Australia and the Philippines.

As an amateur he won the 2017 Philippine Junior Amateur, 2018 Philippine Amateur Open Championship and 2018 W Express RVF Cup Amateur Championship.

He turned pro in 2018.

At the young age of 17 he secured three victories on the Asian Development Tour in 2019 which earned him playing rights on the Asian Tour for the remainder of the season.

Joohyung Kim won the 2022 Wyndham Championship with a total score of 260 (-20). Runners up were John Huh, and Im Sung-jae 5 shots behind.

He won the 2022 Shriners Children's Open with a total score of 260 (-24). Runners up were Patrick Cantlay, and Matthew NeSmith 3 shots behind.

He won the 2023 Shriners Children's Open with a total score of 264 (-20). Runner up was Adam Hadwin one shot behind.

Beyond his victories, Kim has represented the International team at the Presidents Cup and has been recognized for his entertaining style of play. His rapid ascent in professional golf continues to make him one of the sport's most exciting young talents.
