He was born in Canada when his mother was visiting family, but moved to the US a couple weeks after being born.

Jason played high school golf at JFK High School in Warren, Ohio and later played college golf at Xavier University in Cincinnati.

He was inducted into the Xavier University Athletic Hall of Fame in December 2015.

Kokrak is known for his powerful driving, earning him the nickname "The Bomber."

His favorite course is Oakmont Country Club.

He turned professional in 2010.

As an amateur he won the 2006 and 2027 Ohio Amateur.

He also played in the 2007 US Amateur and US Open.
