Matt has been on the “best players to never win a major” list for the last handful of years – maybe 2021 is his year?
We were introduced to Matt in 1998 when he qualified for the Masters as an amateur and finished as low amateur in 21st place. His smile and approach to the game made him an instant fan favorite.
One of the more accomplished amateur players, it took Matt a little while to be a solid player on the PGA tour. That being said, for the last 10 years or so, few players have been as consistent as Kuchar, who is famous for cashing top 10 checks.
Unfortunately, he has not been able to pull out a major championship. He has played in 59 and made the cut 38 times. Matt has only been able to achieve 4 top 5s in majors, with his best finish being 2nd at the 2017 Open Championship.
Starting the 2021 season, Kuchar is 42 years old. Can the “old guy” steal a major from the young guns over the next few years? It would be an awesome story and fun to watch.
