The weight of a golf ball must be no more than 1.62 ounces or 45.95 grams.
According to the Rules of Golf, in order to compete in a tournament, a golf ball must not weigh more than 1.62 ounces or 45.95 grams.
Golf balls also must have a diameter not less than 1.680 inches (42.7 mm). They also must perform within specified velocity, distance, and symmetry limits.
Initially the rules were not the same between the R&A and USGA. It was not until 1990 the two agreed to standardise the size and weight of golf balls.
