Trevor Immelman was born on the 16th of December 1979 in Cape Town, South Africa.

He began playing golf at age 5, following in the footsteps of his golf-teaching brother Mark.

He was a scratch player by age 12.

As an amateur he won the 1996 Junior PGA Championship, 1997 South African Amateur and 1998 US Amateur Public Links.

Trevor turned pro in 1999. He has played on the PGA Tour, European Tour and Sunshine Tour.

He was PGA Tour Rookie of the Year 2006.

He won the 2006 Cialis Western Open with a total score of 271 (-13). Runners up were Tiger Woods and Mathew Goggin 2 strokes behind.

Trevor won one Major championship, the 2008 Masters. Runner up was Tiger Woods 3 shots behind. His total score was 280 (-8). The winner's share was $1,350,000.

He was the first man to successfully defend the South African Open title since Gary Playe.

He competet in the Presidents Cup (International Team) in 2005 and 2007 and was non-playing captiain in 2022.

He spent much of 2016 as analyst in studio for Golf Central on Golf Channel.
