DeChambeau was born in Modesto, California and moved to Fresno prior to high school.
Bryson found success as a junior golfer, winning the California State Junior championship at age 16. Later he accepted a scholarship to play golf at SMU, where he majored in physics. Not many physics majors on the professional tour!
He was a decorated amateur golfer, winning the NCAA individual title and US Amateur championship. One of only five players to win both titles in the same year (Bryson, Tiger, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Ryan Moore). He played in the FedEx St. Jude classic as an amateur and made the cut.
As of the start of the 2021 season, Bryson has 7 PGA victories, including one major championship (2020 US Open).
